Jardine's

Jardine's May 8, 2015 at 9:28am OK, who can forget Jardine's on 159th and Oak Park Ave. (Old IL 43). The southwest side day trip from Chicago to Tinley Park for the Smorgasbord was an annual event for my family. This was the buffet before there were buffets, only difference was the food was good. Here is a post card image from the 1960's as this was a stop on US 6 for travellers as well as locals:

Note the Motel sign in the front, there were four attached cottages south of the main building which now are occupied by a cleaner and medical offices. The lower section on the right hosted the restaurant and was added later, here is how the motel looked originally:

The picture below is how it looks now, the main restaurant building is unoccupied.

Looks pretty busy in this aerial view from 1974. The restaurant closed in the late 1980's
